Artist's Statement

I paint a parallel universe that is a collage of fictions, daydreams and bygone eras. There are similarities to this universe in form and color, but the value scale is askew. For example, celebration, joy, and happiness are routinely practiced. I paint about these, and other concepts that I find missing or underrepresented in the concrete world. I feel like we have been led astray. We are conned into buying useless abundance, cajoled into focusing on the mundane, bribed into complacency and we forget that these are not conducive to our growth as a species. I make art with lots of color, vibrancy and energy in hopes to illuminate some obvious, but forgotten truths about life and humanity.
